Just as we all have instincts, we all have intuition. I have come to see intuition as our capacity to access wisdom that goes beyond what our analytical mind alone can provide.

Intuition refers to knowing something immediately without conscious reasoning, deduction, or analysis. That sense of knowing may appear as images, voices, smells, a spontaneous insight, a feeling, or a deep sense of knowing something for sure.

While instincts are innate, unconscious, and cannot be cultivated, I believe we all can cultivate our intuitive capabilities. Some people are born with a more developed intuition while others acquire it.

The more connected we are to our intuition, the more we can draw on this additional form of intelligence when facing life's challenges and opportunities, and we may reenchant life.

There is another level of intuition which interests me deeply: our ability to access information on demand beyond what is held in our individual consciousness.

Through my own experiences, and particularly through systemic and constellation work, I've seen many other people and me, without any specific experience or training, access data they could not have known conventionally. It feels as if we have access to a vast field of knowledge at any time and from any place. I cannot explain how this happens, but I have experienced it enough times not to dismiss it simply because I cannot explain it.

Different traditions and approaches have different names and explanations for this phenomenon. For me, the name is less important than the experience itself. At this level:

intuition is our readiness and ability to tune into this larger field of consciousness and access information and wisdom that go beyond our individual knowing.

I think we still understand very little about this. But I also don't believe that something has to be scientifically explained before we can take our own experience of it seriously.

This is why direct experience matters so much to me. You don't have to believe that such a field exists because I say it does. You can experience what happens for yourself and make your own sense of it.
